Art Room 59 opened in November 2005 and is situated on the outskirts of Dunfermline town centre. The Gallery provides a showcase for Scottish artists, craftspeople and designers, offering an unusual mix of original and affordable artworks, ceramics, sculptures and jewellery. Along side sits textile inspired interior art, wall hangings, felt work, mirrors, lamps together with an imaginative array of gift ideas and hand crafted cards.

Art Room 59 is marking its official opening, by showcasing the work of local Dunfermline artist Kathryn Doherty.

Kathryn graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1986, where she studied Embroidered and Woven Textiles. She won several prestigious textile awards at that time and went on to design for Neill of Langholm in the Scottish borders. For the last fifteen years Kathryn has been a fulltime mum, to family of four children, managing however, to fit in many commissions along the way. She has been concentrating more recently, on mixed media pieces, inspired by the beauty and diversity of floral images and landscapes. Her unique style and use of colour, texture and shape deserves closer inspection. Kathryn's work will be on show in Art Room 59, 59 Townhill Road, from Saturday 24th June until Saturday the 8th of July.
