A Mixed Exhibition of Arts and Crafts
Feated the work of :
Alison Midson (Acrylics) , Nikki Monaghan(Acrylics) , Claire Cooper Walsh (Mixed Media). Sheila MacLean (Acrylics on silk), Claire Christie (Textiles), Sarah Anderson (Jewellery), Angie Young (Jewellery)
The summer show hosted a mixed selection of Arts and Crafts showcasing painting, jewellery and textiles. The artists included two regular contributors to Art Room 59, Alison Midson and Claire Cooper Walsh, together with new comers, Nikki Monaghan and Sheila MacLean. Although Sheila’s prints had been very popular over the last couple of years, this was my first opportunity to showcase her original work. All four painters were exhibiting landscapes in acrylics, which are all individually unique in style and approach.
Clarabella Textiles designer Claire Christie’s collections of cushions, bags and accessories are limited, handcrafted and finished, made from 100% recycled vintage fabrics and buttons, making each piece unique.
Jewellers Sarah Anderson and Angie Young are both local makers working exclusively in silver.
Sarah presented a range of eye-catching sterling silver work, woven in differing chainmail styles. Each necklace is made from around 350 individual jump rings, each one woven in place using traditional chainmail techniques.
Angie combined her cleverly simple jewellery ranges with unique interior objects such as knitted bowls and willow candle holders.
