Exhibition of Elizabeth.H.MacGregor

Elizabeth.H.MacGregor

Previous Exhibition - September 2006
Brought up in the rural setting of Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, Elizabeth entered the teaching profession after graduating from RGU Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, and has been Principal Teacher of Art and Design at Forres Academy since 1987.

She enjoys Art movements from different cultures, in particular the work of the 18th century Japanese woodblock printmakers, the Glasgow Boys, and the French Impressionists, all of whom have been a major influence on Elizabeth's' creative development.

"My artwork encompasses different genres although I have a preference for landscapes and still life. I work in a variety of media, mainly acrylics, oils, pastels and pen and ink. Tranquil coastal havens around the Moray Firth, such as Sandend and Findhorn, provide a great source of inspiration for my landscape compositions. Everything from dramatic lighting, colours and shapes of cottages, patterns and textures of shingle on the shore, to the peaceful calm of a gentle sea breeze fascinate and focus me artistically."

Recently Elizabeth has been using expressive colour to evoke the atmospheric character and charm found in traditional fishing villages of the Moray and North East coastline.
