Many of you will know Kathryn as a familiar face in Art Room and she has been a valued helper, pretty much since I opened in 2005. She is a super talented artist, super modest and of her own admission, not very good at blowing her own trumpet. I’ve showcased and sold her work for many years so I thought you might like to know a little about her. Kathryn studied embroidered and woven textiles at Glasgow School of Art and in that time won several prestigious textile awards. She then went on to design for Neill Langholm in the Scottish Borders.
Combining her art and being a full-time mum, Kathryn has undertaken many commissions and has been involved in both solo and mixed exhibitions over the of years. She works with inks, pastels, stencilling and collage to build up layers of colour and texture and is inspired by the beauty and diversity of floral images and landscapes. Her style and use of colour, texture and shape is definitely unique and no two of her pieces are ever the same. Although her technique is very time-consuming, Kathryn creates because she loves what she does and her work remains very affordable.
